When we think of a green home we often think of a rustic, isolated dwelling in the middle of a beautiful wilderness where people live off solar power and grow all their own foods.

While this is ideal for some, it's not realistic for many of use who live and work in large towns and cities. That doesn't mean you can't do a large variety of simple things to make your home more green and environmentally friendly and the same is certainly true for a business of any size.

Turn the thermostat down a few degrees in the winter and wear a sweater indoors instead of cranking the heat up.

In the summer, try to avoid using air conditioning units whenever possible; they emit harmful emissions from potentially dangerous chemicals.

Fans are a more green friendly option when the temperature rises. Make sure your home or office has new quality windows and is well insinuated to help with heating and cooling so you use less energy on both.
